LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) ON Wednesday said that a player named in the Pakistan team for the South Africa and Zimbabwe tours tested positive for the COVID-19.
According to a statement issued by Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), on 16 March, a total of 35 tests were conducted on the South Africa-bound Pakistan men’s national cricket team, all team members have tested negative, except for one player.
The cricket’s governing body in Pakistan did not identify the player who tested positive. Barring the player that tested positive for COVID-19, the rest of the squad has been directed to reach Lahore on Thursday for the training camp, the cricket board said.
The camp will begin from Friday at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, according to PCB, adding that the player who tested positive will undergo a repeat test on Thursday at his residence.
“If he tests negative for the virus, only then will he be suitable to travel to Lahore where he will remain in isolation for two more days before being retested,” said the cricket board about the tested player’s path to joining the team. The board also announced the training, practice and media conferences schedule of the squad.
