LAHORE: Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Ehsan Mani has assured that the board is not considering unusual pay cuts and downsizing amid the nationwide lockdown situation.
“The PCB is not thinking of pay cuts and downsizing,” the chairman said in a statement. He further said that the “contracts related to players and staff might be shuffled on the directives of the concerned department.”
He further asserted, “PCB will make sure to stand behind all its stakeholders. Without them, the board can not progress.”
Moreover, Mani said that PCB is not relying on the resumption of bilateral series against India. “We cannot rely on cricket resuming against India as they are unreliable because they have promised to play against Pakistan a couple of times but in the end, they pulled out,” he added.
He said, “Pakistan is scheduled to play against some top teams such as England, New Zealand, and Australia.” He further added that dates will be decided once the situation gets under control.
Last week, Mani expressed the uncertainty over the Asia Cup 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. “The decision to proceed with the tournament will most likely be decided with further development of the situation in a month,” he added.
“Regarding the future of Asia Cup 2020, there has been no decision as of yet but we can expect one in a month’s time while the situation displays,” he asserted.
