For the past one month, the flood disasters have been going on, which has covered almost 75% of Pakistan and natural disasters show not only the punishment of Allah but also the incompetence and negligence of the government. As we know Baluchistan and Sindh suffered the most destruction due to floods in Pakistan and are still presenting a scenario of destruction.
I have been visiting flood-hit areas in Sindh for two weeks. When I saw the plight of the people in the city of Jhodo, I cried tears of blood. Apart from flood destruction, people are also suffering due to the negligence and incompetence of the provincial government. Goth Sain Da Ilian, a small village of Jhadu with about 400 to 500 houses, has been completely destroyed.
When I asked one of the residents of that village whether this is the first time that rain and flood water wreaked havoc, he told me that no, this village has been flooded 2-3 times before, but this time things are very horrific. One can image that how serious the Sindh government is about precautions regarding flooding as the village has drowned 2 to 3 times before but still there is no governmental arrangements to cope with any flood situation. This negligence is a question mark over the performance of provincial government.
The houses of 300 to 400 families have been completely submerged in Jhadu, so they will need some place to live. I saw with my own eyes how people are living in tents on the road. Some fifteen days ago, when the people there were asked if they have received any aid from the Sindh government or any NGOs. They replied no.
We were travelling along with Unity Welfare Organization. The flood affectees said that this is the first food truck that the Youth Unity Welfare Organization has brought for us. At that time, the plight of the people was unimaginable. Some of the flood affectees are belong to families who never spread their hands in front of anyone during whole life. They were givers but now flood has forced them to take from others.
After a week, when it was agreed to go there again, this time we went there to conduct a medical camp of Youth Unity Organization.Because if people are alive, they will eat and where people become trapped and are living in the middle of standing water, there is a greater risk of outbreaks of diseases . Some NGOs are providing food to them, but there is no arrangement about medical requirement neither by government nor by NGOs.
Let me tell you one more thing here that we used to hear from people that the Sindh government is corrupt, only its own people are rewarded. ) Tents or food are provided to those people who have been brought by MNA or MPA by writing something on a slip, even good food is also provided to those people, now if we talk about health. The people are living there, Allah is their guardian.
After the medical camp, doctors told us that the health condition of affectees are very bad, particularly women are in very dangerous condition, most of the women themselves do not know what disease they have. They only know that we have become weak, many pregnant women’s babies have expired been in their stomachs, but they understand that it is not yet time for the baby to arrive. Doctors requested other organizations and Sindh government to provide medical facilities to the affectees to save their lives.
Seeing all these things, only one thing came to mind that the aid coming to the Sindh government from outside, where is it actually going? Because, at least it is not reaching to the real flood affectees.
