Pakistan’s security forces successfully repelled two cross-border assaults by Afghan Taliban and Khwarij militants in the Kurram and North Waziristan districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
According to a report by ARY News on Saturday, approximately 25 militants attempted to enter Pakistan from Afghanistan, using Afghan Taliban border posts for cover. However, Pakistani security forces quickly intervened, stopping the infiltration attempts, as reported by sources.
The report states that the militants, supported by the Afghan Taliban, launched heavy gunfire at Pakistani positions but faced a strong and decisive counterattack from Pakistan’s security forces.
Initial reports suggest that at least 15 militants and Afghan Taliban members were killed, with several others sustaining injuries. Furthermore, the Taliban abandoned six posts and retreated following the effective countermeasures and artillery strikes.
Pakistan has repeatedly urged the Afghan government to stop its territory from being used against Pakistan; however, the Afghan government has strongly rejected these requests, accusing Pakistan of making unfounded allegations.
In the past, the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has launched attacks on Pakistan from the Afghan border, prompting Pakistan to raise concerns with the Taliban government. Pakistan has warned that such acts of terrorism could jeopardize bilateral relations, but these appeals have not yielded any results thus far.
