Agricultural scientists in Faisalabad have developed a breed of chicken that lays eggs for 200 days out of the 365 days in a year, according to national media.
Scientists from the Department of Animal Husbandry at the University of Agriculture Faisalabad have developed a breed of chicken named Uni-Gold, which is capable of laying 200 eggs annually and has better resistance to climate change.
According to the scientists, “We have developed a breed here called Uni-Gold, which has the quality of laying more than 200 eggs a year, whereas ordinary local breeds lay 70 to 80 eggs a year. It also requires less feed, which allows it to withstand heat stress.”
The scientists from the agricultural university say that for the first time in 65 years of Pakistan’s history, they have succeeded in developing a chicken breed that is more beneficial for rural poultry farming.
Now both breeds are such that wherever you raise them, egg production will increase and meat requirements will also be fulfilled. Following the development of this Uni-Gold chicken breed, steps are being taken to deliver it to farmers in order to boost rural poultry farming.
