Pakistani musician plays ‘Jana Gana Mana’ as Independence Day gift for Indians

On the occasion of India’s Independence Day, a Pakistan Rabab musician Siyal Khan has sent a gift across the border that is winning the hearts of netizens. Siyal Khan posted a video of himself playing the Indian national anthem. The video has gone viral and already has over a million views and 59 thousands likes on Twitter.

It is pertinent to mention Rabab is a string instrument, similar to the lute. It is quite popular in Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Kashmir.

“Here’s a gift for my viewers across the border,” Siyal Khan tweeted.

“Happy Independence Day, India. I tried the National Anthem of India as a token of friendship and goodwill for Peace, tolerance and good relations between us,” Khan wrote in a separate tweet.

The gesture was appreciated by people from both sides of the border. Social media users also lauded the beauty of the instrumental.

On August 13, Khan had also played a rendition of Pakistan’s national anthem on his Rubab.

 

The video has garnered over a million views, 59 thousands likes and over 1100 comments on Twitter, at the time of writing this report, many thanking him for his tribute.
