LAHORE: Pakistan’s hockey player Hanan Shahid was named Asia’s emerging player of the year during the Congress meeting of the Asian Hockey Federation in South Korea.
Hanan was also named on the AHF’s Athletes Commission as well an ambassador for Asia’s hockey governing body.
The laurels come for Hanan after Pakistan finished third at last year’s Azlan Shah Cup before recording just one win in five matches at the FIH Nations Cup in South Africa.
Hanan, who is from the family of Pakistan hockey great Afzal Manna, received the award from FIH president Tayyab Ikram, who is of Pakistani descent, during the Congress.
