Karachi: Today, the Bohra Community is celebrating Eidul-Fitr in Karachi and across various parts of Pakistan, following their calendar’s schedule, independent of the official moon sighting.
Devotees gathered at the Tahiri Masjid in Karachi’s Saddar area to partake in the Eid prayers following the enlightening sermon. While adhering to their tradition, Bohras commemorate Eid on this designated day.
Meanwhile, the official declaration of Eid is awaited, pending the outcome of the moon committee meeting. As is customary, Pakistan and other Muslim nations observe Eid after the sighting of the Shawwal moon.
Enhanced security measures have been implemented around the mosque to ensure a peaceful Eid-ul-Fitr celebration, with both police and Rangers personnel deployed for the safety and well-being of all attendees.
The majority of the Dawoodi Bohra community resides in India, with sizable congregations in Pakistan, Yemen, East Africa, and the Middle East. They also have a growing presence in Europe, North America, South East Asia, and Australia.
