Pakistan has unveiled a new kamikaze drone capable of flying at altitudes of up to 6,000 feet and delivering precise strikes on enemy targets.
Known as a loitering munition or suicide drone, this aerial weapon integrates a built-in warhead and is designed to hover around a designated area until identifying a target. Once located, the drone attacks by crashing into the target.
The drone was showcased for the first time at the IDEAS 2024 defense exhibition held at the Expo Center in Karachi. It was developed by the Pakistan Ordnance Factories (POF) as part of its expanding portfolio of advanced weaponry.
The drone is equipped to carry 60mm and 81mm bombs, making it a versatile weapon for targeted missions.
Salman Ali Khan, POF’s Manager of Weapon Design, highlighted that while Pakistan has previously developed surveillance and combat drones, the introduction of thermal imaging and kamikaze drones marks a significant milestone.
These drones address a critical need for cost-effective precision strikes. A single mission can neutralize high-value enemy assets such as tanks, helicopters, or installations, saving millions of dollars in potential losses. With a range of up to 8 kilometers, the drone can fly low to evade detection and ensure accuracy in its attacks.
