The Power Division has announced the initiation of privatizing electricity distribution companies across the nation.
In the first phase, the privatization will focus on four companies: Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (FESCO), Gujranwala Electric Power Company (GEPCO), Hyderabad Electric Supply Company (HESCO), and Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO).
The subsequent phase will see the privatization of additional entities, including Multan Electric Power Company (MEPCO) and Peshawar Electric Supply Company (PESCO).
Sources reveal that the privatization process will eventually extend to all organizations within the power sector, with directives already issued for the privatization of twelve sector entities.
This initiative is part of the government’s comprehensive plan to reform the power sector and improve its efficiency through privatization.
