MADRID: Pakistan and Spain have agreed to activate parliamentary friendship groups to promote cooperation between the parliaments of both countries, according to a statement issued by Foreign Office (FO) on Tuesday.
This understanding was reached during a meeting between Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi and Spanish President of the Congress of Deputies Meritxell Batet in Madrid.
According to the statement, various aspects related to strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries were discussed during the meeting.
Speaking on the occasion, Qureshi said Spain was an important partner of Pakistan in the European Union and Islamabad is committed to enhance bilateral relations and cooperation in various fields with Madrid.
Meanwhile, talking to a delegation of Spanish Foreign Relations Committee led by Pau Mari Klose in Madrid Spain, Qureshi said Pakistan attaches special importance to its bilateral relations with Spain and there are vast opportunities for enhancing bilateral cooperation in areas of trade, economic and mutual interest between the two countries.
Shah Mahmood Qureshi stressed on importance of exchanging parliamentary delegations for promoting bilateral cooperation.
He said that a peaceful and stable Afghanistan is very important for regional security and connectivity and Pakistan, along with the international community, would continue its efforts to improve the situation in Afghanistan and save Afghan citizens from economic crisis.
