KARACHI: Another 40 deaths and 1,008 new cases have been reported in Pakistan due to the coronavirus.
According to the National Command and Control Center, the total number of deaths from coronavirus in Pakistan has reached 12,066 while the total number of affected people has reached 556,519. In the country, 512,943 people have recovered from coronavirus and the number of patients undergoing treatment is 31,510.
The highest number of deaths due to coronavirus was in Punjab where 4,919 people lost their lives while 4,132 in Sindh, 1,964 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 480 in Islamabad, 102 in Gilgit-Baltistan, 196 in Balochistan and 273 people have lost their lives in Azad Kashmir.
The number of coronavirus cases in Islamabad is 42,080, in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 68,625, in Sindh 251,434, in Punjab 161,347, in Balochistan 18,877, in Azad Kashmir 9,238 and in Gilgit-Baltistan 4 9,918 people have been infected with the coronavirus.
During the second wave of the coronavirus, the number of positive cases dropped significantly to 3.9 percent. According to the National Command and Operations Center, the rate of positive cases of coronavirus in Karachi is 10.68 percent.
The rate of positive cases in Islamabad is 1.18 percent, in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 5.25 percent, in Punjab 5.97 percent, and in Sindh 10.23 percent. In Azad Kashmir, the positive cases of coronavirus are 5.97 percent, in Balochistan 3.52 percent, and in Gilgit-Baltistan 0.56 percent.

Coronavirus vaccination is underway in Pakistan and in the first phase, health workers are being vaccinated against coronavirus. Adult vaccination centers have been set up across the country and the entire vaccination process will be controlled by digital mechanisms.
For the first phase of vaccination, 189 vaccination centers have been set up in Punjab and 14 in Sindh, while 280 vaccination centers have been set up in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 44 in Balochistan, and 14 in Islamabad.
