ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has reported over one thousand cases of the novel coronavirus on Monday, as the positivity ratio increased slightly above two percent.
According to the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC), Pakistan reported 1,004 cases and 28 deaths in the previous 24-hour period. The national tally of coronavirus cases has reached 1,258,959 while the death toll stands at 28,134.
The positivity ratio was recorded at 2.33% across the country. There were 43,389 tests conducted in the previous day leading to new cases. The number of active cases in the country has dropped to 42,263. There are 2,473 people who remain in critical condition. Overall 1,188,562 people have recovered from the virus, including 1,254 in the past day.
Sindh has recorded the highest number of cases in the country. The province has recorded 462,859 cases and 7,497 deaths while there are 22,305 active cases.
Punjab has recorded 436,197 cases and 12,785 deaths, while the number of active cases in the province has also reduced to 13,613. Islamabad has recorded 106,153 cases and 930 deaths while there are 2,105 active cases in the federal capital.

The number of cases in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa stands at 175,974 and 5,645 deaths while Balochistan has recorded 33,076 cases and 350 deaths. Gilgit Baltistan had recorded 10,350 cases and 186 deaths while Azad Kashmir has recorded 34,350cases and 739 deaths.
As the situation improves, NCOC has decided to allow all educational institutions to start normal classes from Monday, October 11. This was announced by Planning Minister Asad Umar. He said the NCOC took this decision in view of the reduced level of disease spread and launch of the school vaccination programme.
