Pakistan beats Sri Lanka by 5 wickets in Women’s Asia Cup

SYLHAT: Pakistan’s women cricket team on Tuesday beat Sri Lankan team by five wickets in the Women’s T20I Asia Cup.

At the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium, Sri Lanka decided to bat first after a weather delay. With their powerful batting, Lanka’s Chamari Atapattu (41) and Oshadi Ranasinghe (26) gave their team a dominating lead.

Pakistan was set a target of 112 runs by Sri Lanka, which they easily achieved in 18.5 overs despite losing five wickets.

Tuba Hassan’s neutralization of Atapattu caused the Lankan defense to collapse like a house of cards. Omaima Sohail’s blitzkrieg, which destroyed players like Hasini Perera, Nilakshi de Silva, Kavisha Dilhari, Anushka Sanjeewani, and Malsha Shehani to consolidate Pakistan’s triumph, sealed the doom of the Lankan team.

Omaima Sohail took five wickets to become the Player of the Match, while Tuba Hasan dismissed two Lankan batters and Nida Dar one.

Alia Riaz scored 20 runs, Muniba Ali 10, and Sohail added 7 runs to the total before the Lankan bowling attack sent them back to the pavilion.

Dar (26) and Ayesha Naseem (16), who hit two sixes in just five balls, were not out.
