ISLAMABAD: The All Pakistan Private Schools and Colleges Association (APPSCA) has staged a protest in front of the National Press Club in Islamabad against the government’s restriction on in-person classes.
They were holding banners and placards inscribed with slogans against the closures of schools. The protesters also chanted slogans against the government for its ‘anti-education’ policies.
Talking to M.M News, the representatives of the association flayed the government for breaking its promise of providing interest-free loans to the teachers and small school owners and relief to the private educational institution during the last lockdown.
The official lamented that the government is constantly breaking its promise and instead of providing relief, had extended the closure of educational institutions, which will further increase unemployment and cause irreparable damage to students’ academics.
He said that corona is an epidemic that cannot be denied, adding that we want to continue the education process by adopting the global methods of prevention of this epidemic.
“However, the government seems to have no interest in educating the new generation, therefore, we are forced to protest,” he stated. The protestors maintained that the sit-in will continue till their demands are approved.
Meanwhile, Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police deployed a heavy contingent at Islamabad’s D-Chowk and blocked the road leading to Parliament House from D-Chowk by placing barricades.
