KARACHI: Honda showroom owners named Sheikh Sheraz and Sheikh Moiz have been arrested by Feroze Abad police during a raid at Ramada Hotel.
Both were arrested a day after the duo escaped from the court of District and Session Judge after their interim bail was cancelled. A suspect identified as Sheikh Sarmad managed to flee from the hotel.
The suspects are accused of short-term kidnapping of businessmen and holding them hostage at Honda Showroom located on Shahra-e-Faisal. Moreover, the accused have also kept several women from Karachi as a hostage in the showroom and later sexually assault them on the pretext of providing jobs.
There are several cases that were previously registered against the suspects but they used to get pre-arrest bails. Recently, the accused kidnapped a businessman and recovered Rs 4.5 million at gunpoint, and also seized a vehicle. Instead of selling cars, showroom owners would sell cars without documents and collect money again when documents were requested.
The accused have been charged with various offenses including fraud, kidnapping, and rape. The accused had allegedly formed a criminal team which has been taken into custody by the police while investigation has been started on the cases registered against the accused.
