The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra) has announced a slight increase in Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) prices for December 2024, attributing the change to fluctuations in the exchange rate.
In its statement, Ogra explained that LPG producer prices are directly tied to the Saudi Aramco Contract Price (CP) and the prevailing US dollar exchange rate.
Although the Saudi Aramco CP remained unchanged from the previous month, a marginal 0.05% rise in the average exchange rate led to a minor adjustment in consumer prices.
The increase translates to an additional Rs1.32 for an 11.8kg domestic cylinder, reflecting a 0.04% hike. On a per-kilogram basis, the price has risen by Rs0.11. As a result, the producer price for an 11.8kg cylinder has been set at Rs2,513.45, up slightly from Rs2,512.13 in November. The consumer price for the same cylinder is now Rs3,000.79, compared to Rs2,999.47 last month.
