Nursing students suffer due to incompetence of Controller Nursing

Azmat Khan by Azmat Khan
April 11, 2022

KARACHI: The Sindh Nursing Examination Board conducted the examination of the last Medical Surgery II paper in which a total of more than 1,200 students from all over Sindh participated. The paper was out due to the negligence of the board administration, chief nursing superintendent and nursing superintendent.

Khairul Nisa, controller of Sindh Nursing Examination Board in order to hide her incompetence and save the blue-eyed staff ordered to postpone the exams due to which the students are facing severe mental anguish.

Notification No. SNEB / 4564/72 issued on April 9 by the Controller of Sindh Nursing Examination Board alerted all the Directors, Principals, Chief Nursing Superintendents, Nursing Superintendents, School in charge of Nursing, Public Health School and Midwifery institutions that the question papers of Medical Surgery II examination papers of General Nursing and Medical Surgery Nursing I examination papers were leaked due to which both the papers are canceled.

The notification further states that both the papers will be taken on March 14, 2022, while 25 days have passed since March 14, 2020. However, these papers will now be held on April 14, for which the students will have to stay in hostels again during Ramadan. Moreover,  some students will have to travel long distances to get back to the examination centers.

Khairul Nisa is known to have been recruiting clinical instructors along with six others, mainly at the College of Nursing Jamshoro, where she was to provide teaching services, but she was reportedly due to political influence. Assistant Director of Nursing was appointed, after which she became the Examiner of Sindh Nursing Examination Board, from where she was again transferred to Korangi Nursing College.

Later, when the situation in the media and other circles cooled down, Khairul Nisa was once again appointed as the Controller of Examinations in the Sindh Nursing Examination Board and was given charge of deputy director nursing of 19th grade against the orders of the Supreme Court. After her appointment as Deputy Director, she also had the powers of Director Nursing and in those days she has also been posted as Focal Person.

Later, due to the simultaneous publicity of her three posts, the Sindh government withdrew from him two posts other than Controller Examinations, after which he has been appointed as Controller of Sindh Nursing Examination Board for a long time. This is a clear violation of the court orders. According to the documents, the inquiry against Khairul Nisa in the Anti-Corruption Establishment has been pending for a long time, which is currently being suppressed due to political pressure.

In this regard, the Controller of Sindh Nursing Examination Board Khairul Nisa was contacted who said that the paper was leaked then they rescheduled it and changed the pattern and also started an inquiry in which five officers have been included. The officers include former Director Nursing, Dr. Tanveer, Dr. Shehla, Dr. Mrs. Zaidi and others. During this time she did personal herring of six students. Besides, had formed a vigilance team.

Khairul Nisa, controller of Sindh Nursing Examination Board said that she became the controller in 2015, then was removed, after she had been the controller since about 2017 and now she is promoted to a higher grade, then when the government will give charge to someone else, she will resign. In response to a question, she said that she was posted here as there were two cadres in nursing. As far as anti-corruption inquiry is concerned, it is against the former controller.
