ISLAMABAD: Federal Education Minister Shafqat Mehmood has said that a decision regarding schools will be taken in a meeting next week and no compromise will be made on children’s health.
Shafqat Mehmood said that it was proposed to reduce the syllabus and end the summer vacations or extend the academic year but there would be no compromise on the health of the children.
The education minister said that efforts were being made to unify the curriculum across the country. The system of local government is ready, will be implemented soon, he maintained.
It is to be noted that another emergency meeting of inter-provincial education ministers will be summoned on 23rd November to decide whether to close schools due to the rising coronavirus cases.
Federal Minister for Education Shafqat Mahmood earlier this week convened the meeting where it was decided that all the educational institutes will remain open the whole week despite the rising cases.

However, in an upcoming meeting which will be held on next Monday, it will be decided whether to close the schools or not. In the context of coronavirus, no decision could be made regarding school closures and winter vacations.
Some education ministers supported and some opposed the winter holidays from November to January. Shafqat Mahmood said that the final decision regarding educational institutions would be taken by the National Coordinating Committee.
