ISLAMABAD: Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi has said the next meeting of the Organisation of Islamic Countries (OIC) Council of Foreign Ministers will be held in Pakistan.
In a statement on Monday, the foreign minister said the passage of unanimous resolution on Kashmir by the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers is a triumph of Pakistan. The foreign minister said the 57-member countries of the OIC had unanimously accepted Pakistan’s stance on blatant human rights violations in Indian occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
He said false propaganda was done before the session of OIC Council of Foreign Ministers that Kashmir is not on the agenda of the moot. “If that was the case then how did the OIC pass a resolution on Kashmir?” he asked.
Regarding relations with the UAE, the foreign minister said Pakistan enjoy excellent and strong relations with the brotherly country. During his visit to Niger, he had raised the matter with the UAE minister of state regarding the problems being faced by Pakistani citizens in securing visas.
The Foreign Office has also announced that the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers (CFM) has decided to host the 48th CFM Session in Islamabad in 2021. As the prospective CFM Chair, Pakistan has also become a member of the 6-member OIC Executive Committee for the next three years.
It said that Pakistan is a founding member of the OIC and has always played an important role in promoting the role of OIC as a collective voice of Muslim Ummah.
