KARACHI: Chief Engineer of Karachi Municipal Corporation (KMC) Sabih-ul-Hassan has been appointed as Director-General Engineering, vowing to bring revolutionary steps in the organisation.
Karachi Administrator Iftikhar Shallwani dismissed DG Engineering Iqtidar Ahmed and appointed Sabih-ul-Hassan with an additional charge. In a conversation with MM News, the newly appointment director-general vowed to address the issues faced by Karachi.
He said that he has been given a responsibility and will fulfill it to the best of his ability. He admitted that no attention has been paid to repair potholes and damaged roads which can lead to accidents. He vowed to take action on a priority basis and resolve the issues faced by citizens in the city.
His predecessor failed to repair street lights damaged after the recent rains in Karachi. Many prominent roads and streets across the metropolis also do not have street lights despite the end of the monsoon season.
Sources informed that Iqtidar Ahmed part of a group opposed to Karachi administrator Shallwani. The presence of these factions hampers the working of the KMC as key officers do not perform their duties. The appointment of Sabih-ul-Hassan has raised hopes that damaged roads and street lights will be repaired by the new officer.
