With three goals in the first half, Newcastle United easily defeated Leicester City to win their sixth game in a row and moved up to second place in the standings of English Premier League.
Chris Wood scored the game’s first goal from the penalty spot to start off a commanding performance, and Miguel Almiron then sailed past the Leicester defense to score the game’s second goal.
The Magpies showed the decisive edge that the hosts lacked by heading the third goal from a Kieran Trippier corner for his second of the year.

Brendan Rodgers’ team was toothless in attack without England midfielder James Maddison, who is still recovering from a knee injury incurred before to the World Cup.
In the second half, Jamie Vardy came off the bench to speed up the Foxes’ attack. He was able to get in down the side on a few occasions, but there was no blue shirt waiting to receive his crosses.
The Magpies are four points behind leaders Arsenal, who have played two fewer games. Leicester – who registered just two tame efforts on target in the final 10 minutes – remain 13th.
