German vlogger Christian Betzman has opened up after split from actress Zoya Nasir, saying he never insulted her country of religion.
In a statement on Instagram, Betzman said he will not issue an apology as he has never done any wrong, saying “it’s funny how people twist things to get clout.”
“Pakistan has welcomed me with open arms and I am forever grateful to that. I love my fans and I love everyone who has been supporting me through the channel over the past year to show the good image of the country, and the funny side,” he said.
“I had to adapt to this culture and you will have to admit to mine; Honest and constructive criticism,” he said adamantly.
He said infrastructure-wise, Pakistan is a third-world country and suffers from absolute pollution (garbage) which he faced during a visit Orangi Town in Karachi, which is one of the biggest slums in the world.
“These are facts, doesn’t mean I hate the country or its people. That’s a lie. I said purely because I care about Pakistan and really want to see a change one day.”
“But order to see the positive change, we have to accept the mistakes and find a way to fix them. By ignoring the problems, we will never fix anything,” he added.
Betzman further clarified that he has never insulted any religion or its prayers. “Prayers and religion are beautiful but without actions, they won’t be as effective. Specially when there’s war.”
He said the twisting facts and spreading hate is easier than finding solutions for change. “I always stand with Palestine and with my Muslims brothers and have never supported Israel in any way.”
He said Islam is religion of peace but unfortunately, when he sees social media comments, there is “hate and violence.” He added, “We have to make sure we represent the religion in a positive way across the world.”
He finally concluded saying he will spent time off social media and “organize my next trips.” He said he has reopened comments and messages on social media which he earlier closed.
