Imagine more than 300 to 400 men attacking a woman in a public place that also on the day of independence. Unfortunately, it happened; a TikToker based in Lahore was harassed publically by a mob of men on 14th August.
Not only was TikToker named Ayesha Akram harassed, attack but also groped, humiliated, and robbed at the Greater Iqbal Park at the Minar-e-Pakistan monument. Her video went viral and soon people started to raise safety concerns about women in Pakistan.
It’s a reminder that she was wearing an eastern attire, she was not alone instead she was accompanied by her male companions and she was not roaming at the night, yet she was attacked and harassed publically. Some people blamed the girl anyhow and some demanded a complete ban on TikTok.
A user wrote, “The assault of young women by a mob at #minarepakistan should shame every Pakistani. It speaks to a rot in our society. Those responsible must be brought to justice. The women of Pakistan feel insecure and it is all our responsibility to ensure safety and equal rights to all”. Another user believed, “Please boys.. don’t feel ashamed..NOT ALL MEN ARE TRASH!! Remember that..some guyz are true gem.. and allah knows everything, you don’t need to clarify anything”.
Even Mahira Khan sarcastically commented: “Damn I’m sorry.. I keep forgetting – it was Her fault!! Poor 400 men.. they couldn’t help it. #MinarePakistan” Here is the sane debate over which Twitter has been divided:

Before worrying about Afghanistan, we need to worry about the protection of women here in Pakistan. How does one explain 400 men assaulting one girl, at #MinarePakistan on Independence Day…with not a soul intervening? Mind-boggling.

It’s better for women to live in Afghanistan than Pakistan.
Things like #lahoreincident wouldn’t happen there and if it happened, the #400men will be hanged on chowk.#ayesha #minarepakistan pic.twitter.com/6M0PRaKK9D— M R (@PigeonCapt) August 18, 2021

For girls like us who travel alone for hostel. For girls who have to do job for their family. For girls who have no male at their home. Deep down we have accept that we might be next INCIDENT. Next HASHTAG. Next HIGHLIGHT. #minarepakistan

Back when I was kinda immature. I used to believe and argue about “not all men” but naah after everything that’s been going around and as I get more and more aware, it’s just plain stupidity to believe in the term “not all men” Yes all men. You simply cannot defend this gender.

Countless men groped her. Hundreds did nothing to stop it. Still, Not All Men is outperforming almost every other hashtag.
If there were enough ‘other men’, this wouldn’t have gone on and on and on. This video proves that other men are- at best- a rounding error. Get over it.— Salaar Khan (@Brainmasalaar) August 18, 2021
#Lahore #minarepakistan incident is not the only incident this has been happening in Pakistan for so long. This is a 11 months old video in which a girl got publicly harassed. Not a single men is protecting her. Still you have o say not all men??? pic.twitter.com/nieLXJqHfh
