Geralt of Rivia will indeed return in season 4 ‘The Witcher’ but the series will end with its fifth season.
Netflix has confirmed that it has started production on season 4 of The Witcher, the first that won’t feature Henry Cavill in the lead role and that it and season 5 will be filmed back to back.
The two upcoming seasons will “complete the adaptation of Andrzej Sapkowski’s books,” according to Netflix which means they will cover a trio of Witcher books: Baptism of Fire, The Tower of the Swallow, and Lady of the Lake.
Netflix first announced that Liam Hemsworth would be taking over the role in 2022, and a fifth season was confirmed last year. Last summer’s season 3 of The Witcher thus ended up being a send-off for Cavill’s take on the character, which began in 2019. In addition to Hemsworth, season 4 will introduce new cast members including Laurence Fishburne.
Season 3 will focus on Aretuza, a magical academy where Gerlat hopes Ciri will get a handle on her power, but as is the way of the Continent, there are plenty of politics, corruption, and dark forces at play. The final three episodes of The Witcher season 3 drop on Netflix on July 27.
Alongside the core trio, Joey Batey will return as the bard Jaskier, Anna Shaffer as the ever-kickass Triss Merigold, MyAnna Buring as sorceress Tissaia de Vries, Eamon Farren as reformed Nilfgaardian warrior Cahir, and plenty more.
