KARACHI: Nepal cricket team has reached Karachi for participation in Asia Cup 2023.
Nepal will play its first match against Pakistan on August 30 in Multan. The team was taken to the local hotel amid tight security after landing at Karachi airport.
The team will train at National Bank Stadium from tomorrow (Thursday). They will also play practice matches before leaving for Multan on August 27.
Nepal will be playing its first-ever Asia Cup this year. They are placed in Group A alongside Pakistan and India. Nepal will play against India on September 4 in Sri Lanka.
Asia Cup 2023 will be played in Pakistan and Sri Lanka from August 30 to September 17. Pakistan will be hosting four matches while the rest will be played in Sri Lanka.
India refused to travel to Pakistan on political grounds after which hosts Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) proposed a hybrid model.
Asian Cricket Council (ACC) accepted the hybrid model and announced the schedule of the Asia event which is returning to its original 50-over format after five years.
