BANGKOK: The Chairman of National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA)Lt G Inam Haider Malik accompanied Foreign Minister Ahsan Iqbal at 10th annual meeting of Asia-Pacific Forum on Sustainable Development (APFSD), Bangkok under theme “Accelerating recovery from COVID-19 & full implementation of 2030 Agenda for SDGs in Asia & Pacific.”
During the meeting, Chairman NDMA highlighted role of legislative assembly in facilitating implementation of SDGs and Pakistan’s plan to craft indigenous National Development Goals (NDGs) in line with global protocols.

Chairman NDMA also outlined the importance of the first goal, which focuses on eradicating poverty & lays the foundation for achieving all SDGs. He proposed a global DRR financing support to countries affected by security threats & instability like Syria & Afghanistan.
He underscored the critical importance of investment protection through robust resilience and stable insurance, as well as the risks associated with non-participating think tanks that may pose a threat to strategic infrastructure development.
He also called for tangible action plans to make SDGs sustainable & benchmarking of revised SDGs on yearly updated plans, with country-specific and attainable goals seen as a driver of all enablers.
