MUMBAI: Bollywood actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui has said that despite his fame in movies, he faces discrimination due to his caste.
During an interview, the Bollywood star said that his grandmother belonged to a lower caste and that is why she has never been accepted by the villagers to date.
Nawazuddin Siddiqui said that people on social media still say that there is no caste system in India but if they visit a place like their village, they will see the reality, the actor added.
Meanwhile, the Indian actor expressed his ire over the incident of the gang rape of a ‘Dalit’ girl. In April this year, the US Commission on International Religious Freedom said in its annual report that citizens in India do not enjoy religious freedom.
