LAHORE: The Punjab government has suspended the two senior health officials in the matter related to fake Covid vaccine entry under former prime minister Nawaz Sharif’s name.
The Punjab Health Department suspended Kot Khawaja Saeed Hospital Medical Superintendent Ahmed Nadeem and senior medical officer Dr Munir Ahmed and asked them to report to the primary and secondary healthcare department.
A notification has been issued by the health department in this regard. Dr Muhammad Aijaz Butt has been given additional charge as MS of the hospital.A case has been registered as the Gujjarpura police station against the health officials.
A team of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) had visited the hospital and seized important records to probe into fake Covid vaccine entry under Nawaz Sharif’s name.
During the visit, the team comprising of officials from FIA and the provincial health department confiscated important documents and records from the hospital’s administration. The team was tracing those involved in the registration of Covid vaccine entry under Nawaz Sharif’s name using his national identity card.
Earlier it was revealed that a vaccination centre has registered a COVID-19 vaccination on the identity card of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif who is currently in London.
According to the registration details uploaded to the NADRA portal, Nawaz Sharif was administered the first dose of Sinovac on Wednesday, September 22 and has been summoned for the second dose on October 20.
The Punjab health department took notice of the incident vaccination centre in Kot Khawaja Saeed Hospital. It said an investigation is being conducted against the vaccination centre for the false entry.
Nawaz Sharif travelled to the UK in November 2019 for medical treatment. In October 2019, the Islamabad High Court had granted Nawaz bail on humanitarian grounds and allowed him to travel to London. His bail expired in February 2020 but he is still in London.
The National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) has directed Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to act against individuals involved in preparing fake COVID vaccination certificates.
