ISLAMABAD: Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Zafar Mahmood Abbasi on Monday paid a farewell call on Prime Minister Imran Khan in Islamabad.
The prime minister appreciated the services of Admiral Zafar Mahmood Abbasi for the Pakistan Navy and wished him well. The naval chief will officially retire and relinquish his position on 6th October after the completion of his tenure.
On Saturday, Chief of the Naval Staff on his farewell visited Joint Services Headquarters (JSHQ) and called on Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee General Nadeem Raza. The CJCSC thanked the naval chief for his services to the nation during his long and illustrious career.
Admiral Muhammad Amjad Khan Niazi has been appointed as new Chief of Naval Staff and will succeed Admiral Zafar Mahmood Abbasi. The Change of Command ceremony will be held at PNS Zafar in Islamabad.
Vice Admiral Muhammad Amjad Khan Niazi was commissioned in Operations Branch of Pakistan Navy in 1985 and won the coveted Sword of Honour upon completion of initial training at Pakistan Naval Academy. During his illustrious career, he has served on various Command and Staff appointments.
In recognition of his meritorious services, the Admiral has been awarded Hilal-e-Imtiaz (Military) and Sitara-e-Basalat. He has also been conferred with the French Medal Chevalier (Knight) by the Government of France.
