On the recent changes in electricity rates, where the public seems worried, actor Naumaan Ijaz also expressed strong disapproval over the increasing units and prices.
In Pakistan, electricity rates keep rising every other day, affecting people from every walk of life. Along with excessive electricity bills, load shedding also puts the public in difficulty, which is nothing less than a punishment in this intense heat.
Recently, the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) issued a decision under which the tariff for various units of electricity for domestic consumers has been changed.
For those consuming one to 100 units, the rate has been set at 10.54 rupees per unit, while for 101 to 200 units it has been fixed at 13 rupees, and for non-protected consumers, 22.44 rupees per unit has been set.
In addition, for more than 201 units, rates have been fixed from 28.91 rupees to 47.69 rupees per unit, which will vary according to consumption. This decision issued by NEPRA will be implemented after government approval.
Naumaan Ijaz, making a sarcastic remark about the units and electricity rates, shared a post on social media. He wrote that in this intense heat, a common man sometimes looks at the meter, sometimes at the sun, and sometimes at his children.
He further wrote that for God’s sake, have mercy on the common man and end the 200-unit tyranny.
