Sahibzada Farhan shattered Kamran Akmal’s record with a remarkable unbeaten 162 off 72 balls in the National T20 Cup, cementing his place in history.
His explosive innings, featuring 14 fours and 11 sixes, powered Peshawar to an imposing total of 239 runs against Quetta at Multan Cricket Stadium on Friday. Farhan surpassed Akmal’s previous best of 150 from 2017, claiming the title for the highest individual score in the tournament’s history.
Farhan’s record-breaking knock ranks among the top T20 cricket performances globally, tying with Hamilton Masakadza and Hazratullah Zazai for third-highest individual scores. Chris Gayle’s 175 and Aaron Finch’s 172 remain the format’s top two efforts.
Peshawar capitalized on Farhan’s brilliance, setting a challenging target of 239. The 29-year-old, boasting two half-centuries and a century in the tournament, now holds Pakistan’s highest individual T20 score.
Quetta faltered in response, bowled out for just 113 in 19.3 overs. Abdul Wahid Bangalzai’s 46 offered resistance, but Peshawar’s bowlers—Usman Tariq (4-17-4), Nizar Ali (4-22-3), and Mohammad Imran Jr. (3.3-11-2)—dominated to secure victory. Peshawar advanced to the quarter-finals and will face Faisalabad Region on March 24 at Iqbal Stadium.
