National, international leaders wish PM Imran speedy recovery from COVID-19

KARACHI: National and international leaders, politician celebrities and religious scholars have wished Prime Minister Imran Khan a speedy recovery from coronavirus.

Prime Minister Imran Khan has tested positive for the novel coronavirus, his Special Assistant on National Health Services Dr Faisal Sultan announced today (Saturday).

The development came as the country grapples with the third wave of the pandemic, with Pakistan’s coronavirus positivity ratio moving up to 9.46% and the country recording 3,876 cases and 42 deaths in the last 24 hours.

Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Nong Rong, responding to the news, said: “My best wishes for speedy and complete recovery of Prime Minister of Pakistan @ImranKhanPTI.”

Ambassador of Switzerland to Pakistan Ambassador Bénédict de Cerjat said: “Wishing a speedy recovery to Prime Minister @ImranKhanPTI.”

Embassy of the United States of America in Pakistan said: “We wish Prime Minister Khan a speedy recovery. Our thoughts are with him and his family.”

The French Embassy in Pakistan taking to Twitter said: “We wish PM Imran Khan a prompt and full recovery.”

Australia’s High Commissioner to Pakistan Dr Geoffrey Shaw also tweeted that he wished a full and speedy recovery for the prime minister. “My thoughts and prayers are with the PM and all those affected by the coronavirus around the country.”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, “Best wishes to Prime Minister @ImranKhanPTI for a speedy recovery from COVID-19.”

Special Assistant to Prime Minister Shahbaz Gill added that PM Imran’s symptoms were not severe and he had a “mild cough and fever”.

Wishing the prime minister a speedy recovery, Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Asad Umar said: “The symptoms take a few days before manifesting. Hence it is certain that the prime minister had been infected prior to vaccination. So please do vaccinate.”

Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar prayed for PM Imran’s speedy recovery but also urged citizens to remain cautious in light of a third Covid spike.

Former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi Saturday wished Prime Minister Imran Khan complete recovery from coronavirus, soon after it came to light that the premier had tested positive for the infection.

Prominent religious leader Maulana Tariq Jameel Saturday wished Prime Minister Imran Khan a speedy recovery from coronavirus, hours after it was confirmed that the premier had contracted the virus.

PML-N General Secretary Ahsan Iqbal also prayed for the speedy recovery of Prime Minister Imran Khan.

Film and TV actress Mehwish Hayat also prayed for the speedy recovery of Prime Minister Imran Khan who tested positive for the novel coronavirus.

Taking to Twitter, the “Punjab Nahi Jaon Ge” actress wrote, “Wishing @ImranKhanPTI a very speedy recovery. This proves the point that nobody is immune and that this pandemic is far from over. While we pray for our Prime Minister, let’s also remain vigilant.”
