The 22nd martyred anniversary of Shaheed Havaldar Lalak Jan, Nishan-e-Haider, is being observed today.
Shaheed Lalak Jan was awarded the country’s highest award Nishan-e-Haider for the devotion and courage he showed in the Kargil war in 1999. According to the details, Havaldar Lalak Jan was martyred on July 7, 1999 while fighting against India as a volunteer.
For five consecutive days from 2nd to 6th July 1999, Havaldar Lalak Jan along with his comrades remained a leaden wall for the enemy where the temperature was minus 30 degrees Celsius.
Havaldar Lalak Jan continued to inflict heavy damage on the enemy with light machine guns for many hours with great courage and bravery despite the icy winds and deadly wounds.
On the other hand, the Indian Army also continued to target Havaldar Lalak Jan. As a result of the enemy’s attack, Jan was severely wounded but did not leave the front.
Finally, on July 7, Havaldar Lalak Jan was martyred while performing his great duty of defending the homeland. He was awarded the Haider Medal in recognition of his unforgettable services.
The Pakistan Army Public Relations (ISPR) in this regard said that the day of martyrdom of Havaldar Lalak Jan is being observed today and the nation is saluting him. On the Kargil front, you gave a lot of courage.
ISPR said that the services of Havaldar Lalak Jan are a source of pride for Pakistan and in the years to come, he would prove to be a great beacon of the nation for the soldiers of the Pakistan Army.
