On June 27, a family of tourists from Sialkot met with tragedy on Friday morning when a group of around 18 people got caught in a flash flood inthe Swat River while they were enjoying breakfast at the river, Commissioner Malakand Abid Wazir had confirmed.
Rescue teams recovered seven bodies from the river while three individuals were pulled out alive. Emergency operations are still underway as rescue workers search for more victims.
The tourists had arrived in the region earlier in the day, unaware of the flood warnings in place. Authorities have already imposed Section 144 along the Swat and Panjkora rivers to restrict public access due to the high flood risk.
Many celebrities like Hadiqa Kiani, Hira Mani, Yasir Hussain, Aiman Khan, among others, have also shared similar sentiments.
