LAHORE: Quetta Gladiators’ pacer Naseem Shah has been allowed to rejoin bio-secure bubble ahead of Pakistan Super League (PSL) edition six, beginning from June 5 in the Gulf nation.
The right-arm pacer had been released from isolation in Lahore after he breached the protocols for departure from Pakistan by arriving at the designated hotel with a non-compliant RT-PCR test result.
“Quetta Gladiators pacer Naseem Shah was granted permission to re-join the HBL PSL 6 bio-bubble. He was sent home earlier this week because of a COVID-19 testing breach,” the PCB said in a statement.
“Naseem’s return however is dependent on fulfilment of the Pakistan bio-bubble protocols which include testing negative within 48 hours prior to the integration in the bubble and subsequent isolation along with two repeat COVID-19 tests before boarding the next chartered flight which will leave from Pakistan,” it added.
More than 200 players, support staff match and PCB staffers landed in Abu Dhabi on Thursday, from Karachi and Lahore, and began their isolation on the same day. Meanwhile, permission has also been given to the broadcast crews arriving from South Africa and India.
Nassem Shah ruled out
Naseem Shah was released from isolation in Lahore after he breached the protocols for departure from Pakistan by arriving at the designated hotel with a non-compliant RT-PCR test result.
As such, the fast bowler will not be travelling to Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, on 26 May and is now out of the competition. As per the COVID-19 protocols, all those traveling through chartered flights from Karachi and Lahore were directed to submit the negative reports of PCR tests taken not more than 48 hours prior to arrival at the hotel on May 24.
However, the report Naseem Shah presented was of the test that was conducted on May 18. On the recommendation of the independent Medical Advisory Panel for PSL, the pacer was dropped out from the lineup flying to Abu Dhabi.
