KARACHI: In a bizarre move, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has mistakenly summoned deceased government official for interrogation in a corruption case.
A call-up notice addressing the then director solid waste Rafiq Sheikh was issued asking him to appear before the accountability watchdog in a case related to the alleged embezzlement in petrol and diesel in 2013-14.
According to details, the then Director Solid Waste passed away last year due to illness. Rafiq Sheikh used to issue petrol and diesel slips after the establishment of DMC Korangi.
The local government officials have expressed regret over the issuance of call up notice, saying that NAB should have known whether the person they were investigating is still alive or not.
Earlier in March, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) issued notice to the deceased brother of Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) Khursheed Shah in a corruption case for interrogation.
According to details, Ali Nawaz Shah, who passed away eight years ago, was summoned on March 3 in the Shah Spinning Mills case registered against Khursheed.
