ISLAMABAD: National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has authorised conducting 16 inquiries and investigation including against former Sindh minister Nisar Ahmed Khoro and frontman of former federal minister Babar Ghori on charges of corruption and causing losses to national exchequer.
The Executive Board Meeting (EBM) presided over by NAB Chairman Justice retd Javed Iqbal authorised conducting corruption reference against Muhammad Ramazan Sehto and others on the allegations of 95 illegal recruitment in Education and Literacy Department Naushero Feroze by misuse of authority, which caused a loss of Rs 160 million.
It approved conducting a total of 16 inquiries against various personalities including Rehan Mansoor Khawaja, who is alleged the frontman of Babar Ghori; former minister Ghulam Murtaza Jatoi, and Hassan Ali Sharif, alleged frontman of Mukesh Kumar Chawla, and Waheed Sheikh, Deputy Director Excise and Taxation Department, Sindh.
It also approved inquires against officials of Sports, Works Department and others; Haji Khan Umrani, Abdul Jabbar Yousafzai and others; former MNA Khuda Bakhsh Nizamani, former minister Khuda Bakhsh Rajar; officials of Board of Revenue, Malir, Karachi and others; subsidy to 19 sugar mills (Mirpurkhas, Thatta, Khairpur, Sajawal), Peetam Das, Superintendent Engineer; and officers of Bagharari Gaesh Circle, Kotri Barrage, Hyderabad Region.
Other inquires were approved officers of Revenue Department, Gothabad Scheme, Malir, Karachi; management of Larkana Model Town Housing Scheme and Gulshan Mustafa Scheme and others; officers of Mineral Department and Revenue department Sindh; consultants AA Associates M/s Sardar Ashraf D Baloch; Contractor Yousaf Ali former member of construction company; Mukesh Kumar, General Manager Sindh South, NHA, Sukkur and against Ayaz Memon, former Project Director, Riaz Ahmed Sehto, Project Director Finance Section, NHA.
EBM of NAB also authorized conducting two investigations against various personalities including Nisar Ahmed Khoro, former SIndh Minister for Food and officials of Sindh Food Department. It also approved an investigation against Syed Muzammil Shah, Executive Engineer, Provincial Highway Division, Sukkur.
The bureau authorised transferring the inquiries against Munir Ahmed, Naeem Khan, Sanam and Sindh Development Organisation and others to Interior Ministry and National Insurance Company to FIA for further proceedings.
It authorised closing the ongoing inquiries against Abdul Jabbar Shahani, Assistant Commissioner, Revenue, SITE Karachi and others owing to absence of evidence.
The forum also authorized closing investigations against MPA Sindh Abul Karkim Soomro and others; officers and officials of Civil Aviation Authority; JS Bank and others, owners and directors of Abdullah Shah Ghazi Sugar Mills due to non-availability of any evidence.
Speaking on the occasion, NAB Chairman Javed Iqbal said the bureau is striving hard to take the mega corruption cases especially sugar, flour, money laundering, fake accounts, abuse of authority, assets beyond means, illegal housing societies and modarba scam to its logical conclusion. The anti-graft watchdog has recovered record Rs323 billion during the year 2020.
