ISLAMABAD: President Dr. Arif Alvi has signed the summary sent by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, by which the federal cabinet and the National Assembly would be dissolved.
According to the details, PDM’s reign of more or less one and a half years ended with the prime minister sending the summary to the president and then signing it. The president signed the summary of the dissolution of the Assembly on the advice of the prime minister.
Constitutionally, if the president does not sign, the National Assembly is automatically dissolved within 48 hours. PM Shehbaz Sharif will continue to work as the Prime Minister until the caretaker Prime Minister is appointed after the dissolution of the National Assembly.

The current set-up has been given three days to dissolve the name of the caretaker prime minister. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and opposition leader Raja Riaz will finalize the names for caretaker prime minister in the next 3 days.
If the name cannot be finalized in the next 3 days, then the parliamentary committee will decide on the appointment of a caretaker prime minister, and in case the parliamentary committee does not take a decision, the matter will be handed over to the Election Commission of Pakistan.
