ISLAMABAD: The National Assembly has approved a bill over the public hanging of the convicts who are involved in child abuse.
The resolution was tabled in the lower house of the Parliament by the ruling party Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) lawmaker. The bill was passed with a majority vote. Only the Pakistan People Party (PPP) was opposed to the bill.
Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs, Ali Muhammad Khan had said that Prime Minister Imran Khan himself wanted the hanging punishment for the child abuse convicts.
The incidents of sexual harassment of children have been rising since 2019. The bill has been approved as an initiative taken against the abusers.
