KARACHI: Sindh government spokesperson Murtaza Wahab defended the removal of Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr. Kaleem Imam and said,” “PTI’s accusation that the decision to remove the IG is unilateral is based on a lack of knowledge.”
While addressing a press conference in Karachi, Murtaza Wahab said that Chief Minister of Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah informed Prime Minister Imran Khan and took him into confidence before the removal of IGP.
He added the procedure was followed before surrendering the services of Dr. Imam.
Murtaza Wahab further said, “CM Sindh during the meeting with PM Imran aired reservations of the members of the provincial cabinet had against IG Dr. Kaleem Imam.” He further said that IG Sindh was failed to control crime.
He further said that the PM’s House was also kept in the loop about yesterday’s meeting of the Sindh cabinet.
The spokesperson said that IGs of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa were replaced before but no one raised questions nor did anybody played politics.
