A murder case has been filed against Bangladeshi cricketer Shakib Al Hasan and actor Ferdous Ahmed, both former Awami League MPs from the 12th Parliament.
Rafiqul Islam, the father of the deceased Rubel, filed the case on Thursday with Adabor police station in Dhaka. Rubel was a garment factory worker.
Shakib is the 28th accused in the case while Ferdous accused no 55.
Other accused include former prime minister Sheikh Hasina, Obaidul Quader, and 154 others. Around 400-500 unidentified persons are also charged.
According to the case statement, on August 5, Rubel participated in a protest march on Ring Road in Adabor. During the rally, someone allegedly fired shots into the crowd as part of a planned criminal conspiracy, resulting in Rubel being hit in the chest and abdomen.
He was taken to the hospital but succumbed to his injuries on August 7.
