NEW YORK: Ambassador Munir Akram on Saturday took charge as Pakistan’s permanent representative to the United Nations (UN).
Munir Akram will be stationed at the UN’s New York headquarters.
Akram earlier replaced former ambassador Maleeha Lodhi. She served as Pakistan’s envoy to the UN from 2015 to 2019.

Akram is a well-known figure in diplomatic circles, he served as Pakistan’s ambassador to the UN previously as well, holding the office for six years between 2002 and 2008.
He specializes in multilateral diplomacy with considerable experience over the years at the UN’s New York and Geneva chapters.
He has also served at the Pakistani missions in various world capitals, including Brussels and Tokyo.
