ISLAMABAD: Pakistani mountaineer Muhammad Ali Sadpara, along with his son Sajid Sadpara and Iceland mountaineer John Snorry, has scaled K2, the world’s second-highest peak today (Friday).
According to details, Sadpara waved Pakistan flag at the top of the savage mountain at 5pm local time. Sajid and his fathers have become first Pakistanis to scale K2 in winters.
Sadpara had earlier planned to summit the mountain that had not been scaled in winter until a few weeks ago when a Nepalese team conquered the peak for the first time in winter. However, the expedition was postponed due to bad weather.
Meanwhile, Bulgarian climber Atanas Georgiev Skatov fell to death during an expedition on Pakistan’s K2 his team said today (Friday). According to Seven Summit Treks – a trekking company leading the expedition, Atanas Skatov, 42, fell as he was changing ropes during his descent to base camp.
