Syed Moonis Abdullah Alvi, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of K-Electric, has resigned from his position, after which the Chairman of K-Electric’s Board of Directors has accepted his resignation.

According to local media reports, Moonis Alvi submitted his resignation from the post of CEO on Thursday and forwarded it to the company’s Board of Directors.

Reports said that after final approval from the K-Electric board, the Pakistan Stock Exchange will be formally notified. Alvi served K-Electric for 18 years and was the longest-serving CEO in the company’s history.

Meanwhile, K-Electric Board Chairman Mark Skelton has officially accepted Alvi’s resignation.

According to reports, three candidates have been shortlisted for the position of K-Electric’s new CEO. All three are from Karachi and have extensive experience in the energy and finance sectors.

The K-Electric Board of Directors is expected to meet next week, while board elections will take place during Ramadan. The new board will be responsible for appointing the next CEO.

It should be noted that on Tuesday, the Governor Sindh had set aside the order passed by the Provincial Ombudsperson Sindh against Moonis Alvi in a workplace harassment complaint, after hearing a representation filed against the Ombudsperson’s decision dated 31st July 2025.
