MULTAN: A six-year-old boy was killed after stray dogs attacked him in the Shershah area of the Multan.
According to sources, the six-year-old boy named Sujawal had gone into the fields to play when the dog attacked him. As a result, he suffered severe injuries and later died at a home.
The family of the deceased alleged that the boy breathed his last due to a delay in the administration of an anti-rabies vaccine after being mauled by stray dogs.
They also blamed that despite being informed the health department team reached four hours of delay. The Multan Metropolitan Corporation has informed the provincial health department multiple times of the failure of the culling campaign.
On the other hand, the District Health Authority Chief Executive Officer, Dr Munawar Abbas believes the reason for the attacks is because people have kept the dogs as pets.
Stray dog attacks have reached endemic proportions across the country as 47 dog bite cases were reported in Karachi during the 24 hours on 8 February 2020.
According to sources, a total 47 dog bite cases were reported in the metropolis out of which 11 reported at Anti-Rabies Clinic of Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center (JPMC), 25 were reported at the Rabies Centre of Indus Hospital Korangi, four cases registered at Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, seven cases emerged at Lyari General Hospital.
