ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Aviation and Railways Khawaja Saad Rafique has said that Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) and Roosevelt Hotel are not being sold out.
Talking to media on Monday, he said that Roosevelt Hotel was an expensive property owned by Pakistan, and in the future, it was bound to become a highrise building.
Saad Rafique said PIA had become ‘Masailistan‘ (House of Problems) but the government was making all-out efforts for its betterment, adding that some 24 airplanes would become operational by the end of this month.
He said originally, PIA needs 40 planes and our previous effort to acquire them couldn’t meet success. He said if joint efforts are waged, these apparently obsolete planes would also generate revenue.
He said Karachi and Islamabad Airports would be made into the best model airports, but their ownership would remain with the government.
He said his government was introducing a better system for 777 planes at a cheaper rate, and trying to solve problems faced by those living in the US and Europe as well۔
Saad Rafique there were a few problems in China due to Corona, but after introducing direct flights, fares for China would decrease by Rs.100,000.
