KARACHI: Members of the Sindh Assembly will take oath today after PPP leader Syed Murad Ali Shah has been once again nominated as the Chief Minister of the province.
According to the details, the swearing-in ceremony of the newly elected members of the Sindh Assembly will take place today. Murad Ali Shah has been nominated as the Chief Minister of the province for the third time while the official nomination was made yesterday by PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.
Owais Shah will be the candidate of the People’s Party to replace former Agha Siraj Durrani as Speaker of the Sindh Assembly for the next 5 years while Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has nominated Anthony Naveed for the post of Deputy Speaker who will be elected on the basis of party majority.
On the other hand, the Grand Democratic Alliance and Jamaat-e-Islami have been protesting. In their joint statement, Jamaat-i-Islami and GDA said that our allied members of the assembly would not take the oath of membership. Security arrangements have been tightened for the meeting.
Section 144 was imposed for one month in the Karachi Red Zone and surrounding areas. During this time, there will be a ban on processions, protests, and public gatherings, in case of violation, the concerned SHO has been ordered to take action.
