ISLAMABAD: The rift seems to widen between the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) as another party leader has criticized party chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman and the narrative of the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM).
Maulana Shuja-ul-Mulk, a former MPA and party’s secretary-general Balochistan, has expressed dissent with JUI-F chief, saying that the PDM has united under one banner to escape the accountability process by National Accountability Bureau (NAB) rather than solving the nation’s problems.
“The people are thinking that PDM has joined hands to escape the accountability process. They have not joined to solve their problems,” he said. He agreed with senior JUI-F leader Maulana Muhammad Khan Sherani’s viewpoint that the party activists are considering the JUI-F chief a “traitor” due to his narrative.
He expressed disappointment that Hafiz Hussain Ahmed was removed as the party’s spokesman for opposing the PML-N’s narrative despite being a prominent leader, adding his reservations should have been heard rather than being dismissed.
Earlier, senior JUI-F leader and former chairman of the Council of Islamic Ideology (CII) Maulana Muhammad Khan Sherani had said that the PDM has been set up for “personal gains,” adding that Maulana Fazlur Rehman is himself “selected.”
Sherani said the PDM will be unable to topple Prime Minister Imran Khan’s government. “I had predicted it a long time ago that Imran Khan’s government will complete its five-year term,” he said. “He will stay in power for the next five years too.”
He took a direct jibe at JUIF-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman, saying he is himself “selected” and therefore has no right to say that the prime minister was selected instead of being elected.
He said that the JUI-f is not a ‘hereditary party’ or anyone’s personal property and those who believe that are delusional. He announced to set up JUI-F offices across Balochistan in consultation with his colleagues. Speaking about JUI-F’s former party’s spokesperson Hafiz Hussain Ahmed, Sherani said that Ahmed “is an old and wise companion.”
It is being reported that the JUI-F has convened a meeting in Islamabad on December 24 where Maulana Sherani’s allegations will be discussed and a high-level inquiry will be launched into the matter.
