ISLAMABAD: The official Facebook account of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) Maulana Fazlur Rehman has reportedly been hacked.
The cyberattack reportedly originated from the Philippines, compromising the JUI-F chief’s official Facebook page, which boasts a substantial following of over 1 million users. However, there has been no posting of any inappropriate content.
JUI-F spokesperson Aslam Ghauri confirmed the incident. He said that the Federal Investigation Agency’s (FIA) cybercrime unit has been notified to recover the hacked page.
This incident follows a recent revelation by security agencies on August 25, which uncovered a sinister attempt to breach the mobile phones of senior government officials.

These agencies, acting on information provided by the Prime Minister’s House, thwarted efforts to access sensitive data under the guise of high-ranking officials.
The malicious attempt involved the dissemination of mobile hacking links through WhatsApp, with the intention of extracting confidential information.
In response, the Prime Minister’s Office has issued directives to government officials, urging vigilance and instructing them not to respond to irrelevant messages. The officials have been advised to promptly notify the Cabinet Division when receiving suspicious messages.
